Situated in the heart of Malasaña in a mini plaza, Ojala is part of a new restaurant trend in the area, adding something more to your dining experience than the standard tapas fair.  Not to say that standard tapas can’t be great, but Ojala offers a menu consisting of fusion foods in a fun and entertaining environment that you can’t find throughout Madrid’s ubiquitous tapas bar culture.  Ojala is the perfect place to kick-off a day or night out, offering a lunch and dinner menu of sharable items ranging from ceviche and won-tons to a giant hanging kebab of grilled meat (“parrilla variada”), at Ojala the menu is part of the fun.

Make a reservaton with NO booking fees at Ojala below:

Avoid Dissapointment and book a table at Ojala for free

What makes Ojala great for groups is the “Para Compartir” menu, which allows you to choose more or less a theme and sample many different items; can’t decide on a salad, well then just sample all of them with the “Degustacion de Ensaladas” (my personal favorite is the fried green tomatoes topped with cabra cheese) or if all the tapas sound great to you, no problem, Ojala lets you try them all (“Degustacion de Tapas”).  However, if meat is your thing then go straight for the Parrilla Variada – an impressive mix of different types of grilled meats and veggie accompaniments – if you don’t give it a try you’ll inevitably find yourself leaning back in your chair staring in envy at the table sitting next to you.  They also offer a solid breakfast and merienda menu along with a good selection of coffee and teas, and free Wi-Fi.

We can’t end the review without mentioning one of the real treats Ojala offers, a downstairs cocktail room completely covered in sand, capturing a beach atmosphere, which is perfect for enjoying a strawberry and lemon daiquiri from their cocktail menu, or for escaping the winter chill. Another nice touch is the fresh Warsteiner (a Germen Lager) beer on tap, which is a change of pace from the standard Mahou option found in bars around Madrid.

So if you want to go out with your friends and try something different, Ojala is the place for you.
