Opened in September 2004, the
Palacio del Retiro is one of
newest luxury hotels. It is located in a
stunning building right off of the
and the Puerta de Alcalá, two of
most time-honored monuments. It is also
about a five minute walk from the Thyssen-Bornemisza and Prado art museums, and
about 15 minutes by foot from Puerta del Sol.
The Palacio del Retiro is
decorated in a modern style that works surprisingly well with its refurbished
early XX century building, which has been deemed a historical landmark. The hotel has an “avant-garde” restaurant,
fitness center, gardens, Turkish baths, sauna, massage parlor and laundry
service. A regular room runs about 235
euros per night, while a suite is affordably priced at about 330 euros per
night.
