Do I have reservations…for a hamburger? This might be your initial reaction when popping into the always busy Home Burger Bar for the first time.  Well, apparently the answer here is, yes (at most times anyway).  But read on because its popularity is not without reason.
Home is one of those restaurants, which choose to try to perfect one thing as opposed to experimenting with different themes and menu items.  The choice here is simple – as if the name didn’t give it away – the Hamburger.  We’ve all seen those pictures of unappetizing looking “hamburgesas” plastered in the windows of restaurants throughout the more touristy areas of Madrid, make no mistake this is not one of those places.

From the minute you walk-in, it is apparent that Home has a certain ethic it is trying to attain; the paper bag menus, the fake window shutters on the wall, the tiny lamps above the tables and the golden oldies constantly playing.  Home strikes the perfect balance between classic and modern design, creating an old school diner feel without overdoing it, but still preserving the little things all the way down to the salt & pepper shakers and the glass Heinz 57 ketchup bottles.  All of this would of course be nothing if the food didn’t live up to the same standard.  Here the attention to detail to which they adhere in the design of the restaurant is carried over to the food as well.  The burger comes in many different combinations but the classic with cheese (why start anywhere else) is seated between a toasted Sesame seed bun topped with crisp red leaf lettuce, ripe tomatoes, onion and of course what “classic” burger would be complete without pickles.  All burgers come with a nice helping of fresh hand-cut french fries and a tasty side of coleslaw.  The locally raised organic beef is part of what separates this burger from others; it’s lean yet juicy and flavorful, but also the quality of the other ingredients help elevate it on the perfect burger scale.  All that being said if you should be invited here but don’t enjoy red meat, Home also offers their burgers with the option of chicken and for the vegetarians you can enjoy their veggie burger, a veggie club or the lox burger (served on a Bagel!!!!).   Starters include giant salads not the least of which is the diner classic; The Caesar.

Anyone who really knows the value of a perfectly cooked hamburger can attest to the fact that sometimes the urge for burger and fries can be overwhelming and Home is without a doubt the place to go when struck with this urge.  The popularity of this restaurant speaks for itself; it has even spawned a second location in Chueca. So book a reservation (yes for a hamburger) and head down for the guaranteed satisfaction and comfort of Home.
